BIOGRAPHY

Dr Jamal Kussaga is a Food Safety Expert with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology of Sokoine University of Agriculture, Master of Science in Food Quality Management of Wageningen University and a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences of Ghent University. He has a professional experience of more than 15 years in teaching, researches and consultancies. He is a Senior Lecturer working for Sokoine University of Agriculture, School of Engineering and Technology, Department of Food Science and Agro-processing. He served as a member of Board of Directors of Tanzania Food and Nutrition Centre (Ministerial Appointment). He was a visiting Lecturer at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources in Malawi. He was also a research fellow at the Food Quality and Design Group, Wageningen University and Department of Food Quality and Food Safety, Ghent University. He has developed various food safety and quality management systems performance assessment tools, which have found extensive use across the world. He has supervised several BSc, MSc and PhD students. His research interests are on food safety and quality, mycotoxins, food science and assessing the effectiveness of food safety management systems
